As of March 2026, the Americans, Iran, and the Modern State of Israel are at war. This has prompted the world to re-evaluate the claims of the Modern State of Israel, and many Evangelical/Main-Line Protestant Christians, that the state of Israel today is Chosen by God by the promise of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
In this article, I will make the case that God does not care, and has never cared, about ethnicity. No people are, or ever were, chosen based off of their ethnic background. God has always been about Faith, and whom a person puts their faith in. This statement leads us to conclude, that it is the Christian Church-Not the Modern state of Israel, and those with ethnically Jewish backgrounds…Is the True Israel of God, and Heirs to the Promise of Abraham and his Descendants. No one comes to the Father but by Jesus Christ.

Abraham, and his descendants were never saved by virtue of their ethnic status but rather by their faith in God. — [Genesis 15:6“And he believed the LORD, and He counted it to him as righteousness.”…Romans 4:9–11“We say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised. He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised.”…Romans 4:13“For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.”Romans 4:16“That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring.”Galatians 3:6“Just as Abraham ‘believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.’”Galatians 3:7“Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.”Galatians 3:8–9“And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, ‘In you shall all the nations be blessed.’
So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.”Romans 4:11“…that he might be the father of all who believe though they are uncircumcised.”…Romans 4:16“…to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham.”Hebrews 11:8“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance.”]
Those who considered themselves “Israel” were only a part of Israel, if they followed the God of the Bible, and put their faith in his covenant Faithfulness. — [Romans 9:6–8“But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring…This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.”…Isaiah 10:20–22“In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them, but will lean on the LORD…A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. For though your people Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return.”…1 Kings 19:18 “Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal.”…Romans 11:5“So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.”Deuteronomy 10:16 “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.”Jeremiah 9:25–2 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will punish all those who are circumcised merely in the flesh…All the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.”…Ezekiel 18:31–32 “Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed… and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.”John 8:39“They answered him, ‘Abraham is our father.’Jesus said to them, ‘If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did.’”…John 8:40“But now you seek to kill me… this is not what Abraham did.”…Romans 2:28–29 “For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit.” Galatians 3:7 “Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.”…Galatians 3:29 “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”
They were not saved by their blood, or by outward adherence to law, or circumcision itself. — [Romans 2:25–29“For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.
So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision? Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter.”Galatians 5:6 “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.” Galatians 6:15 “For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.”]
Rather, they were saved by the “True” circumcision. — [Philippians 3:2–3“Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.”Deuteronomy 30:6 “And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.”…Jeremiah 4:4 “Circumcise yourselves to the LORD; remove the foreskin of your hearts.”…Romans 9:8 “It is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.”]

Christ is the fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant and the sole mediator between God and man. — [Genesis 12:3 “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”…Genesis 22:18 “And in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.”…Galatians 3:16 “Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, ‘And to offsprings,’ referring to many, but referring to one, ‘And to your offspring,’ who is Christ.”…2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him.”…Luke 24:44 “Everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”…John 14:6 “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”…Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”…1 Timothy 2:5“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”…Jeremiah 31:31–33 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah… not like the covenant that I made with their fathers.”…Luke 22:20“This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”…Hebrews 8:6 “Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better.”…Hebrews 8:13 “In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete.”Galatians 3:26–29 “For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith…There is neither Jew nor Greek…And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”Romans 4:16“That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring.”…

The Vineyard of God, the Earth, has been turned over to a new steward. — [Matthew 21:33–41“Hear another parable. There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and built a tower and leased it to tenants, and went into another country. When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit… Last of all he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him…They said to him, ‘He will put those wretches to a miserable death and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.’”…Matthew 21:43“Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.”…Romans 11:17-29 “17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way[ all Israel will be saved. As it is written:“The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.27 And this is] my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”]28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.Romans 9:6 “For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel.”Romans 9:8 “It is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.”John 15:1–2“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away.”John 15:5–6“Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit…If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers.”

There is no distinction made between Jew and Gentile — [Ephesians 2:13–16“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility…that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace.”…John 10:16“And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also…So there will be one flock, one shepherd.”…Exodus 19:5–6 “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples…
and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”…1 Peter 2:9–10 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people.”Galatians 6:15–16“For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.”Philippians 3:3“For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh.”…Hebrews 12:22–24 “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven… and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant.”…Revelation 5:9–10“Worthy are you… for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God.”
Conclusion
The modern Jewish state named “Israel” cannot be the Israel referenced in Scripture. Their outward rejection of Jesus as the Christ and in turn, the God of the Bible…shows that they are indeed, not the descendants of Abraham, not heirs to the promise of God, and not Israel as described in Scripture.
Scripture presents a consistent pattern from beginning to end. Abraham was counted righteous because he believed God (Genesis 15:6), and the New Testament explains that this occurred before the covenant sign of circumcision was given (Romans 4:9–11). Because of this, Abraham is described as “the father of all who believe” (Romans 4:11), establishing faith as the defining characteristic of his descendants. —— The prophets repeatedly distinguish between the nation of Israel and the faithful remnant within it (Isaiah 10:20–22), and the New Testament continues this distinction by stating that “not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel” (Romans 9:6). The covenant promises given to Abraham ultimately converge in Christ, whom Paul identifies as the promised offspring (Galatians 3:16). Through Him, those who believe become heirs of the promise: “if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring” (Galatians 3:29).—- For this reason the New Testament describes the covenant people of God in terms of those who belong to Christ, drawn from both Jews and Gentiles. Believers are called “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation” (1 Peter 2:9), and Paul refers to those who walk according to the new creation as “the Israel of God” (Galatians 6:16).
Within the biblical text, covenant identity is therefore tied to faith in God’s promise as fulfilled in Christ rather than to ancestry or political nationhood.
Galatians 3:16-18:“16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God [a]in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.“
John 14:6: “6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
